This marks AMP's first event in the Middle East, and we are excited to bring together molecular professionals from across the region for an event that will provide excellent networking opportunities, allowing professionals to connect, share insights, and collaborate on best practices to drive progress in molecular diagnostics.
The program will explore the latest advancements in molecular testing and diagnostics, showcasing their global impact on patient care. We will also emphasize how these innovations can be adapted and implemented regionally, offering insights into best practices that can be applied locally for improved healthcare outcomes.

Yassmine Akkari is a senior director in the clinical laboratory of the Institute for Genomic Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and a professor of pathology at The Ohio State University. Currently, she is a member of the WHO Low- and Mid-Income Countries Committee and the chair of AMP’s Finance Committee and AMP Middle East Organizing Committee.
Robert G. Best is a distinguished professor emeritus in medical genetics at the University of Southern California and senior clinical laboratory director and discipline director for cytogenetics at Labcorp.
Soufiane El Hallani is an assistant professor at the University of Alberta. In addition to his clinical duties at Alberta Precision Labs, he is the R&D lead of the Solid Tumor Molecular Pathology program at APL and chair of the Somatic Solid Tumor Working Group of the Molecular Pathology Discipline Council.
Charles Hill is a professor and the pathology residency director Emory University School of Medicine. He directs the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at Emory University Hospital.
Dr. Annette Leon is a board-certified medical geneticist focused on developing innovative, AI-powered diagnostic solutions that enhance access to and utilization of genomic medicine, driving advances in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of genetic disorders.
Heba Mostafa is an associate professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the director of the Molecular Virology Laboratory at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Dr. Imran Mirza is an American Board of Pathology certified Anatomical and Clinical Pathologist, Hematopathologist; and co-certified by American Board of Pathology & American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in Molecular Genetic Pathology. He serves as Chair of Clinical Pathology at the National Reference Laboratory, United Arab Emirates.
Rami Mahfouz is a professor, the director of molecular diagnostics and head of clinical pathology at the American University of Beirut Medical Center.
Panieh Terraf is an assistant professor/attending at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
